Project SUCCESS
Schools Using Coordinated Community Efforts to Strengthen Students
Project SUCCESS is a school- based program that works to reduce the factors that put students at risk for substance abuse. This is achieved by utilizing a combination of activities which are designed to address the unique needs of students. Strategies include:
Teaching students skills for resisting peer pressure, healthy decision making, responding to conflicts, refusal skills, coping with anxiety or other stressful situations.
Providing information to increase their understanding about the harmful consequences of using alcohol, nicotine and other substances.
Referring students and families in need of additional resources.
Working with school and community groups to promote healthy lifestyles for teens.
How to access services: Most students self-refer by stopping in the Project SUCCESS coordinators office, (#509) which is located next to WHS Student Services. Students are also referred by peers, parents, faculty and the court system.
