For Educators

The Watertown School District serves nearly 4,000 students at the following buildings:

  • McKinley Early Childhood Center

    • Preschool, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten

  • Jefferson, Lincoln, and Mellette Elementaries

  • Intermediate School (5 and 6)

  • Middle School (7 and 8)

  • High School

Other highlights:

  • Special services include alternative education, gifted program, and K-4 structured learning program following TEACCHing principles.

  • Social Emotional Learning is a priority for the district; the team consists of around 14 staff members that include counselors and psychologists.

  • A grant supports student attendance initiatives, including Family Support Specialists.

  • Monthly early dismissals give educators time for growth and development.

About Watertown

Watertown has a population of 25,000 and is a central hub for Northeastern South Dakota.

  • Spend time outdoors on the bike trails, golf courses, rodeo grounds, and lakes.
