Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

Social and Emotional Learning is the process through which students and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to succeed academically, socially, and professionally.

Every Student, Every Day

Socially and emotionally competent students are skilled in five core areas:

  1. Self-management

  2. Relationship skills

  3. Self-awareness

  4. Responsible decision-making

  5. Social awareness

Confidentiality

All information shared by a student is kept confidential or private except as required by law. Legal exception include:

  • clear and imminent danger to self or someone else

  • if there is a reasonable expectation that the student will engage in dangerous conduct as defined by state statute
